Need some detailed tips on what is involved to replace 1998 4.6 sohc with a 2001 4.6 PI. The 4.6 pi is going in 1998 4.6 litre GT mustang with a 5 speed. The PI came out of 2001 GT with automatic transmission.Any help is much obliged. Thanks

what all came with the pi motor? if it was intake to oil pan, it will be direct drop in. your exhaust manifolds, ignition system, fuel system(have to use your fuel rails/injectors), flywheel (as long as both cranks have same number of bolts where flywheel goes) all will drop in. you will have to mount your coil packs differently, but no biggie

The 2001 4.6 LITRE PI is fully complete and turn key ready. What componets if any have to be changed out in order for the PI engine to drop in a 1998 GT. The PI has 8 individual coil packs. Will the ecu on the 98 work properly or should i install harness and packs from 98 4.6 over to the 2001 PI engine?
