Exclamation Help anyone with my mustangs random shutoff? :(

I have a 2000 Mustang GT (manual) which ive owned since since july of 2011...i bought it mainly for school and work it has 172000 as of today the car is in great condition but lately it has been acting up at first the car would automatically turn off after redline or racing it but now it seems to turn off whenever and it is dangerous because the steering wheel tightens up and the brake does to pumps go off ive almost wrecked numerous times because of it :P so it turns of completely and luckily i just push in the clutch and start it again even when moving...at first it would go off during deceleration but now its whenever...if anybody could help i would appreciate it on things to check on or things i could do thanks

Is there any commonality in the conditions under which it stops? Acceleration, deceleration, braking, cruising, engine rpm, gear--anything?

There are numerous possible causes as you have listed above, if indeed the shutdown is random then you need to drive it immediately to a Ford dealer or other competent diagnostic shop and have the problem identified and resolved.

If you do crash you will get your back-end sued off for negligence and reckless endangerment.

deceleration or riding on neutral with the car still in motion...i think ive narrowed it down to the air sensor im going to clean/ check it tomorrow and hope it works...and normally the rpms should be a little above idle when riding on neutral no? but what intrigues me is that it happens unexpectedly when the rpms suddenly drop to 500 and the headlights get dim...if cleaning the air sensor doesnt work i guess i will have to run tests
