Took a new 5.0 for a spin today...
i thought the point of a muscle car was to feel the power, not to "enjoy a smooth ride"... when they started putting in hydraulic clutches, i knew the bawlz were getting snipped away little by little... its ashame that the classic appeal to this type of vehicle is dwindling away little by little.. at least they put a beast of a motor in it, otherwise it would be a "muscle car" based on looks alone

The beauty of the new 5.0 is that it does the DD and driving the wife around comfortably very well, yet it can go out and tear up some pavement when you want it to.
A purpose built vehicle is a completely different animal from a very good all around vehicle. The new 5.0 is a very well rounded car.
It is true that the visceral sound and feel of a car built strictly to go fast is awesome, but if this car also has to perform DD duty(to include driving the wife and/or kids around town) then perhaps some of that razor edge needs to be blunted a little bit.

exactly! if you want a good "all around" vehicle, go for an infiniti, lexus, etc, or their cheaper counter parts from nissan, toyota, etc., or hell, even the new taurus SHO. to me, and to most enthusiasts, a two door muscle car aint made for "the wife and kids" to scoot around town in. thats the job of a sedan...

And Uber, I'd be keeping it stick axle with a torque arm and panhard bar. IRS swap would be too much of a hastle. It'd get the griggs racing package. SLA front suspension, procharger F1 blower or twin turbo and a nice wheel and tire package would be all I'd do. Boost it to 600rwhp and go spank lambos in straight lines or corners.
I'd be more inclined to get the Boss 302 and simply add a SC.
That would give me nice manners in handling situations and plenty of power for forward propulsion.
There will ALWAYS be fools with more money than sense who will have faster/better vehicles, but that set-up would make me VERY happy

I have a new edge GT, and thats why I wrote the review. Better in every way.
