Default Smoked Headlights and Fog Lights

Well i got a 2003 GT in need of some new lights. I am looking for a good brand smoked headlights and fogs with HIDs. I am thinking 6000k or 8000k kit, should i go with 55 watts headlights and 35 in the fogs?

What brand you guys using? I am concerned about visibility with smoked headlights anyone have good experience? I looked at american muscle but noticed the smoked lens people complaining about night vision with them.

Thanks

I run the AM Dark Smoked Headlights, but I had to install DDM 55W HIDs to get the light output back to a decent level. The dark smoked lenses will definitely reduce the light output a lot vs the clear stock lenses.

I chose the 5000K lights hoping that they would not look blue, but even the 5000K are a little more blue tinted than I wanted. I am certain that 6000K would produce a blue light, and 8000K would be purple.

I love the look of the dark smoked lenses in the daytime, but they do have a significant impact upon light output at night.

True blue hit the nail on the head. I was running smoked Head Light lenses as well, the visibility was terrible, but I dealt with it because I didn't do a large amount of night time driving as it was never a daily driver. However, if you are willing to spend the money, getting an HID conversion kit to run with your smoked lenses is a great compromise. You still have usable light output at night when you need it, but still have sexy smoked lenses during the day. I agree on the color as well, get nothing over 6k for sure, and really, 5k is probably the highest I would go.

The smoked len's are deff. gonna hurt output.Even with HID's. If you go with HID's stick with a 5k, its a noticeable difference in brightness between 5k and 6k.35w will be just fine, 55w will just blind everyone worse. HID's in fogs are overkill for the intended purpose of use in foul weather driving. I typically frown upon HIDs in halogen headlights. Talk to anyone whos done a retro, they will wish they had done it wayy sooner.

I have AM smoked headlights also w/ the DDM kit and its ok for night driving, Ill drive all the way from K.C to my house (3hour drive) at night with no issues in the country w/ no street lights. Still can see the sides of the road for deer and such.

Definately worth it lol.

ddm is it's own company you have to buy the hid's from them, they're very cheap yet still work pretty good, i know quite a few people with them with no issues. I borrowed my buddies am smoked headlights this summer with normal bulbs and at night it was noticeably worse but not undriveable, just had to leave the brights on everywhere. when i invest in some headlights i'm just gonna get the ebay brand ones and put some silicone along the edges to keep moisture out. save some money for the same looks.
