Default Tremec Swap

So I took my car to a few tranny shops and they all said my torque converter was shot, 3rd and overdrive is worn out and slipping and there's a possibilty of other damage. So I've decided that rather then getting it rebuilt, I am going to convert it to manual t-56. If anyone sees any good deals on parts for the conversion, please let me know. I'll be updating you guys as I find and get parts.

svt performance is your best bet honestly in picking one of these up. My friend who has one said that it's really not worth the hype, he mentioned that he gained weight and used more power to run it. I kinda think a 5 speed is just fine considering its lighter. But the fact of having a 6 speed is really sick still lol

the t56 should still be lighter than the auto box

Not that the minimal weight difference matters much but for the record the T56 is a heavy trans and weighs roughly the same as a 4r70w auto without a converter bolted up.

For the sake of comparison a t5 weighs around 70 lbs and ive heard t56s weigh in somewhere around 125-135 lbs.

Anyways, good luck with the swap.

Ive always thought about throwing a manual in my car as well.

I am really wanting a t56 magnum. It is supposed to shift alot smoother and handle alot more power then the regular t56 unit. Also, a warranty would be nice!I am looking at the transzilla t56 tranny right now, but cant find any prices on it. I really like the closed ratio option they have.

Im probably going to go with this setup: http://www.ddperformance.com/shop/pr...6cPath=108_127

As far as clutch, Im just going to get a cheap one for now and when I put my engine in Ill get the mcleod dual disc clutch. I also need a pedal assembly, cables, wiring harness. There shouldnt be much else to get.
