Default Exhaust tip myth

Ok so I have put the question does haveing tips change the sound at all.

Answer depends.

Explanation. It depends on how big they are and long the are. Example I have my 01 gt with slp o/r x with super 44s with factory tips ..ok the. I went to my exhaust shop and had 4 inch rolled!!! And I say rolled becuase if your gonna get 4 inch tips get them rolled trust me.

So the tips are 4 inch rolled diameter ..and about 16-18 inches long welded on. And wow..the sound changed more than you would think.

1rst the sound is more of an eco which I love with super 44s ..a tad deeper and for the most important part..it made it louder..and you might say no it didn't its your imagination..this is not the case. I have a proffsional db meter.and tested the sound. Before and after..when pulled up at the shop at at warm idle it was louder and from a a 1k 2k 3k holds..and a 5k rev was all louder..both test were takin in the same spot. Before and after..even did a launch as well in the same spot..according to the meter by getting 4 inch by 16-18 length tips made it 15.23 percent louder..and it noticeable. Even without a meter.i didn't even tell my wife about the change and she immediately noticed. Then I told her what I did.

So it depends on the tip. If you just get a 3.5 inch diameter and only 8 inches long the change wont be noticeable ..but with these it is and I love it !!!!!

And question just hit me up.
