Default Most horsepower from a 96GT W/O PI swap or F/I?

Whats the most someone can or has attained without the PI swap or F/I on a 96-98GT? I'm just curious because I don't have the mechanical know how to do the PI swap for one, and this car has high enough miles I'm not going to bother with F/I plus its just a daily driver, but I am wondering how much the common bolt ons will net this car if its worth it.

MAC CAI
Steeda UDP's
Stack 70MM TB
Stack Upper Intake Plenum
Stock headers to off road h pipe no cats to flowmaster 40's
SCT SF3/X3 Power Flash

thats what i have and i was told MAYBE 200hp? Seems slow lol

Without tearing into the engine, youre really not gonna get a good amount of power out of a NPI car. You can do the usual bolt ons, but its not gonna be much of a difference. I dont see if youre auto or 5 speed, but an auto is obviously gonna feel even slower. I just did some work on my buddies 96 GT auto. I did PI cams, PI intake, throttle body and plenum, timing adjuster, off road H pipe, and Magnaflow catback. You can tell adifference, but even with all that it wont spin the tires from a stop. This is also with the stock 3.27s as well. You could look into gears to make it better off the line...Id go with atleast a 3.73 gear, but if it were my car Id go 4.10s.

As mentioned above, not a lot of power to be gained with bolt-ons to a non-PI motor.

Nitrous is the only way to get good power without the H/C/I swap or FI.

look into cams, you can actually run a VERY aggressive cam on an NPI motor due to the intake valve design, talk to Nick @ MHS he'll hook you up

with good cams, a PI intake and all the other supporting mods i see no reason you cant make 240-250rwhp...

4.10's in that car will actually be VERY fun

* FWIW, Nick can degree the cams for you, so you literally take them out of the box and install them per his directions and thats it; no degreeing the motor or cams, just a direct swap from the stock parts. Cam swaps are actually pretty easy on these cars and NPI springs are safe to over 7000 rpms so no need to swap them out either*

I agree that cams can make a difference, but he indicated that he has little mechanical know how. I think he is looking for fairly simple bolt-ons and their benefit.

The non-PI configuration will really hold him back from "good" performance.

As usual, my first suggestion is for him to save and install gears.

Hi new here.
I would change the gears first. Nothing you do to the motor with those heads will add that much seat of the pants feel. Gears will make it quicker out of the hole and more fun to drive.
