Question 281 Internals?

I've heard the pistons and rods are the weak points in the 281. So I was planning on replacing them with all forged internals and a new crank also. But the 04 GT, does it come with dish or flat pistons? I believe it has 9.4:1 compression? Correct? Wanting to supercharge and trying to get the compression under 9:1. Also, where is a good place to buy DOHC 4v heads and valve covers? Any information helpful.

I have a set of 4v heads, two sets of valve covers pm me if interested. As far as the pistons and rods being the weak point, I wouldn't say its a weak point but there only good for 420ish rwhp before your asking for some problems. If you plan on supercharging you def don't wanna do flat tops as that will keep the compression atleast at 10:1.

I would just swap a complete 4v engine in but if you just want the heads and valve covers uberstang can def help you out.Matter of fact I know he has an almost complete cobra engine for sale.It just needs an intake I believe.

I personally think 9:1 is a bit low for a blower build, I think keeping it stock compression or even upwards of 10:1 is where power will be had

3 things: Make sure your installer know's what the he** he's doing. Make sure your tune is spot on. Most importanly no short cuts.. Speaking from a guy that has went through two engines in 10 months. Learned my lesson and am putting together a forged Short Block. GL my man!

What compression have you been running with blower? And what are you going to run on your new one?

Oh god no, 8:5:1 is about what you want for a built motor for boost, that give you the ability to run way more boost than you will be able to on a 10:1 build.

People say that...but provide no reasoning as to why. Your car will be a dog downlow at 8.5 or 9:1. I can count guys on all 15 hands of mine that run 9.5 to 1 and upwards of 10:1 with nice boost. I'm slightly above 9.5:1 and run 20psi with 93 octane and soon to be meth....
Not a single problem
