Please help? I just figured out my 2006 mustang GT was overfilled on its last oil change by a half a quart or possibly more..the receipt says 6.5 quarts right on it and the dip stick says possibly more than that...ive only gone 15 miles since the oil change...so what should I do? is my car in any danger? please help? I sure would appreciate advice thanks so much! ~ worksforhorses

I run ~7 in my car, and it calls for 6. Never caused me any problems.

I read somewhere that especially in the 2006 V8 4.6 engines that overfilling does more harm than good and is a real no no unless you want to turn the engine into a premature oil burner...so to be on the safe side I took it in and had it drained until the oil was dead on the full mark anyway... I appreciate your replies very much ...Scared me to DEATH! lol!

A little over would be ok but too much oil can harm the engine. You'll get the crank splashing around too much oil causing air bubbles. You made the right call.
