Default Carfax request please

Does anyone have access to Carfax? I want to look at a vehicle and would like to have as much information on the car before I go.

I ran an autocheck on it. It's clean. 5 estimated owners, no accidents, no odometer problems. Last reported miles 24K. It failed an emissions test, then passed a week later. 8.8 autocheck score.

Thanks for doing this man! The mileage is low, but having 5 owners concerns me. So does the fact that it did not pass emissions. It is easy to pass emissions here. All they do is plug into the OBD port and check for codes. No visual inpsections are made. Not a lot of information on the car from the dealer including the price. I am curious as to how much they are asking. Going to call them this morning though to check it out.

Called the dealer and some things sound sketchy. They still have not inspected the vehicle so there is no price on it and the internet sales manager even thinks something is up with it due to the Carfax report. They may just wholesale it out, but she said she would call me when the vehicle goes through inspection next week.

From what I can see, the dealer that bought it new didn't sell it right away, so it was likely a store demo and the store put 6K on it, then sold it. That owner drove it for a year, then traded it in to a lot, who resold it. Then it went to AZ to a dealer, who sold it. Then it went to 2011 where a dealer sold it, and then 4 months later sold it again. Weird thing is that person either had independent financing, or they paid in full with cash. Then he drove it for a year, and sold it again.

It makes you wonder why people are getting rid of it after a year. As the for the inspection, anything could have caused a failure, most likely an offroad exhaust pipe caused a catalytic converter code.

Is it a major dealership? Most large dealerships just turf all trade ins to auction regardless of it's value.

That is kind of the information I got from the sales manager. She was concerned about the number of owners and the low mileage. It is a big dealer here in town so until it gets inspected they won't even let me look at it. She said not until after Christmas. I want to check it out and if they end up not putting it on the lot I may shoot them a price and see if they bite depending on the condition of the car. The number of owners concerns me, but the mileage looks good.

Biggest thing that they wont want to do is finance it in house, but they should get more from you than they would at auction. I can tell you that it hasn't been to auction recently at least not the major ones, I checked your local Manheim and I couldn't find any record of it. It makes me far more nervous when it keeps bouncing from dealer to dealer at auto auctions.

Average MMR price for them at manheim is $15,400 and the most expensive one sold had 10K miles on it and went for $22,400, so yeah, keep that in mind when making an offer. Most dealers are happy with MMR when they turf it to auction.

5 is alot , but the car is 10 years old. Over the last 8 years I've had 5 cars so it's not that weird for people to be and out of cars , or repossesions, etc.... but If they haven't listed it for sale and the previous owner paid cash that usually means it has a salvaged title and dealers can only do cash deals. Dealers will damn near sell anything "ask me how I know'' lol so if they never did then chances are something was wrong.
