Hate to break it to you but if you thought powershifting was hard to do with the stock shifter, you're in for a rude awakening when you get the hurst. It is the EXACT SAME shifter as your stock. Other than a shorter throw, there is 0 difference. You'll see for yourself when you get it. The fact is with the shorter throw, powershifting is actually HARDER with the hurst. You will find you need to have the clutch completely depressed for it to lock into gear which throws powershifting right out the window.

Street driving you'll enjoy the shorter throw but could have got the same thing for $50 with the saleen adapter. For drag applications, the hurst is a POS.

Sorry, but it's the truth.
blowngt, I've heard your opinion on the hurst shifter and agree that it looks just like the stock shifter. Now what's your opinion on the new billet unit Hurst came out with? I would imagine its gotta feel more solid. How does it compare to the Steeda? I'm in the markt for a new shifter and like the hurst look but dont want to sacifice performance. Thanks

hate to break it to you, but the shifter has a COMPLETELY different feel than stock, regardless of having the same mechanical operation. there is no "click in, click out" feel stock, and that dominates the hurst. also, it breaks in after some driving time, and i can powershift just fine, good day sir

I would have to agree with Sleeper05 on this one, the hurst feels nothin like the stock unit at all. The shifter feels way more responsive and it seems to shift "better" then stock. Way shorter throw to add on to it.

I just installed my hurst shifter and its pretty easy to do. All you need is a 13mm wrench and a 10mm deep socket to install the shifter and a 7\32" allan key to install the chrome stick. Took me about 20 mins to do, without a lift. I love this shifter, way shorter throws and the feel is a hundred times better. Best investment by far!
Really? Maybe I'll give it a shot when it comes in. Tomorrow!

To basically echo what Sleeper is saying, the Hurst has a very 'notchy' feel to it, particularly at first. It does break in over time but still maintains it's tight feel. Don't get me wrong I like mine, but I sometimes wish I'd thrown the Saleen adapter in there and in the meanwhile begged my 5'1", 120lbs wallet with teeth for the extra $100 or so for the Steeda.
Just my .02.

Why does it say remove the two metal flanged sleeves from the front bushing of the stock shifter assembly? There is only one metal flanged sleeve on my 06, obviously it's only flanged on the one side and is as long as the bushing.

You guys defending the hurst just got your feelings hurt is all...lol You are FOS and post some track vids to show me different. What are your real facts you are using to compare to? I had the hurst, tri-ax, and pro 5.0 on my car so that is where my comments are coming from. For looks and daily driving, it works fine but so does the saleen adapter for $50 - so do the math. For drag application, it just plain sucks pure and simple. And yes, auto is better for drag obviously and that's why I don't have the pro 5.0 anymore and I have a 4 speed AOD from art carr. BUT, let's look at guys who are making incredible passes with manuals... JPC, Powerhouse, JDM, D'agostino racing, etc. etc. and guess what? NONE of them have the hurst in their cars...lol

To answer the question about the new billet hurst shifter - I have heard it is good but haven't seen one yet to confirm. Word is they made it to compete with the tri-ax and pro 5.0 so I would think it should be good. I just haven't seen one in person yet to confirm but I am expecting it to be a descent shifter.

EDIT - most of you know eduardo on this site (silverpoison) - I went to the track with him and drove his car with him to show him how important shifts and rubber is. Within 5 minutes, he decided to sell his hurst and ordered the pro 5.0 and mt's. I put MT ET streets on his car and he dropped 2-10's from his other dr's. I showed him the difference in shifting and he ordered the pro 5.0 the next day. Now these are facts I'm basing my opinions on, not just hurst bashing, so if you're going to defend the hurst, have some facts to back up what you're saying.

I did the math and to get the same look and performance as the hurst it isn't worth getting the saleen. Maybe you should check your math. The saleen + steeda bushings is $66 and there ain't no way to make the stock stick chrome as far as I can tell.

There is more to life than drag racing you know.

There's no "s" in decent by the way.

How hard is the steeda upgrade, and do you have any pics, I would like to see how it looks as well.
