Well it would have been much eaiser if I pulled the shifter out. However, my metric sockets are 6 point and the driveshaft bolts are 12 point so I could not remove the driverhsaft. (the shifter didnt want to fit between the drivshaft and the floor). So I completly unbolted the shifter and let it hang on the driveshaft and installed the bushing with it hanging there. It was a pain because the bushing do not just fall into place they take some manipulation and the space I had to install them was pretty cramped.
