Odometer "Correction"
Hello everyone. If you are a purist, you may just want to push the back button on your browser now because this might anger you. But for the rest of us who live in the real world with real odometer readings and real warrantee’s on our car please read below and see if you can help us out.
When I had my vette (c5); Diablo tuner had an option to "Correct" odometer mis-calculations due to tire diameter changes. I was able to "Correct" roughly 33% of my total mileage annually due to this great tool and keep my warrantee for an entire year longer.
example: Actually drove 10,000 miles, odometer read 6,666.6
I was just wondering if there are tools to do this on the Mustang, and if so what are they. If not on a Manual Trans car, is there a way to disconnect the Speedo / Odometer line from the computer or dash?
Again, I understand this is a controversial topic, and not everyone may like it. But some people will appreciate this information so please refrain from the Negative postings.

Just be aware that in new cars there are lots of things that record the actual mileage of the car regardless of what the guage cluster shows.
Usually like three items. One is usually very wierd.
Usually a combination of things. Like the cluster memory, the DME memory, and the black box. Or the cluster, DME, and something else.
On one german brand for example, a factory rep told me that the odometer reading is stored inside the DME, the cluster, black box, and one other switch on the dashboard. I am not saying which one. But it is not something you would expect to have anything to do with the mileage.
Are there ways of fooling the computer, I am sure there are and dont doubt dealers do it all the time with their exotic CPO cars. But I wouldent be asking these questions on a public forum if I were you.
In fact, no offense to you personally, but I sent a request to the mods to delete this thread. This is not something that should be discussed on an open forum.
Not saying you would sell one, but no one likes buying a car with a fudged clock.

What about all these guys running different rear end gear ratio's, or Tire size changes ? There is no way to compensate for their increased engine speeds, they have to deal with the increased Odometer readings?
Doesn't sound like a fair trade off to me !
