how many wheel horsepower can the engine/trans/rear end take?
hey guys, how many wheel horsepower, while maintaining daily driving reliablity can the engine on stock internals, manual transmission stock internals, and diff on stock internals take assuming you don't bang gears very often? thanks

RE: how many wheel horsepower can the engine/trans/rear end take?
The general consensus is about 450-475 HP for the engine, on stock internals. The rods are the weak link. However, this all depends on the quality of your tune. If you have a crappy tune you could blow the engine at 400. If you have a good tune and you're careful, you can get more.
The transmission is rated at 360 ft-lb by Tremec. Of course, you can run more than that through it, it just reduces it's lifetime.
The weak link in the rear end is the differential itself. The axles are 31 spline, very strong.
