Default Synthetic Oil

I just picked up my new 2007 Premium Gt last Saturday. I love it! The last new Mustang I bought was in 1971. I was wondering if you guys recommend synthetic oil over the fossil-based oil. I'm sure this question has been asked before, but as I said, I'm new. Thanks.

You'll get lots of opinions on this subject. I am a fan of Synthetics. I believe there has been enough proof that synthetics protect better. Plus if you're like me and you chnage your own oil it only cost a few more $'s to put it in. I buy Moble One from Wally world for about $25 per gallon. Just stay away from those Fram filters. Go Motorcraft.

TedG954 things have changed since 1971, I have had to learn all over on my 06 GT. I remember putting 10w40 and 20w50 in my 69 mach1 428 cobra jet.

Stay with non synthetics until around 2.5k-3.0k miles. Then switch to synthetics, if you can get Redline 5w-20 get it, that is hands down the BEST 5w-20 on the market. If you can't then get mobil1 5w-20.

I am a firm believer in Mobile One. This is my second Mustang and that is all I have ever used.

I too just got an 07 GT and went back and forthabout doing synthetic or not. I came to the conclusion that in 07 Ford put a 5yr/100,000 mile warranty on the powertrain. Why spend the extra money on synthetic if you are covered that long from the factory. If you blow it up then you go get another installed on Fords tab.
