Default VIN DeCODING

First off I am new to the Mustang World. I haveowned Corvette's and am tired of the plastic world. It has takin me 48 years but I just purchased a 1986 Mustang GT from my Brother. The car is in great shape. I am planning to start right away on the motor build-up (5.0). I can use as much help as possible to get around 400 + rwhp for around $4800.00 is it possible?. Also is there anyone out there who has a site or access to a site that can decode my VIN so that I may know what the options were originally on the car (rear end,....) Thank-you for your help and I am very proud to be a Mustang member. Please e-mail back at Luch59@aol.com

With concern to the horsepower buildup, while you might possibly get several replies here, you would get a greater response posting in a forum more dedicated toward your specific year generation rather than the S197 section.

As for the VIN decoding, google is your friend http://www.cardetective.com/vin-decoder.html

The VIN decoding site was for a car fax type of look-up, is there anything out there that might tell me what was orginally ordered on the car ( rearend, gearing...)
Thanks-again
