Ageed! Sounds like they did not index the shaft back to the factory location.

Have you had anything done that would affect your pinon angle, because I was having the same issue but mine was just corrected with and adjustment to my LCA's. If not then I would bet it was something they did wrong.

Checked the shaft and they did not index it properly. Lined up the paint spots myself and bolted it back up. Unfortunately there was no improvement.

Moosestang: JBA charged me 4 hours at $90 an hour.

CBSTANG: Could be they did not get thepinion angle right when they installed thenew gears. This is one of the things I want tohave checked, along with the pinion depth, backlash and tooth contact pattern at my localFord dealer.

Thanksall

I installed the 4.10's like months ago and there was no vibration at all... there is only this slight whining sound from the gears when at constant speed rpm 2,500 this whining goes straight to the brain.

I also encountered this vibration at the exact speed ur having, and the vibration was after I installed the one peice driveshaft I couldnt take it anymore so I took it off.. and I have talked to MTM ( audi's company) about it and they said adjusting the lca's with the 1 peice driveshaft wont do anything good.

so the dirveshaft is now with them for like a month or two I just dont know what to do with it.

Took the car to the local Ford dealer earlier this week. Turned out to be the pre-load on the pinion was wrong. Ruined the pinion so the ring and pinion had to be replaced. Should get the car back from the dealer tomorrow. Will be disputing the original work.

Which driveshaft did you have again? Adjusting your LCA's will change your pinion angle andwill reduce or increase vibrations.

That sucks! I thought this place has done lots of gear swaps?

I'm going to get my 4.10's done at HP performance inJacksonville, Florida if I decide to get gears, still haven't decided. I've read nothing but good things about them and the Ford 8.8 axle. They're the ones that did the twin turbo Ford GT.

moosestang:

Got the car back from the Ford dealer yesterday and the gear s are right now. No whirr on decel, no howl at high speed. Do have a bit of a vibration at very high speed and may do an aluminum drive shaft in the future. I see your car is set up pretty much like mine, except that I have also done the underdirve pulleys and theIMRC delete. On the dynomy Mustang put down311HP at the rear wheelsand 328 pounds of torque, with no exhast work. With the 4.10'sthe carpulls like an SOB out of the hole. I have been in a couple of zero to 60 mph jaunts between stop light over the last couple of days and I can tell you for sure it has suprised a few people. Iembarrased a guy driving $100K AMG Mercedes today, as he was looking at my Mustang's tail lights at 60 mph. When I pulled up to the light I know he thought it would go the other way. Point being, if you aresetting your car up like mine, for maximum acceleration off the line, then putthe 4.10's in. With the 5 speeds .68 overdrive, the 4.10's and the stock tire diameter the car turns about 2750 RPM's at 80 so it is livable for most highway driving.
