Default Engine rebuild question

Ok I am new on here and this si my first post but I have been reading on this site for a few now and I am wanting to make my 07 Gt run better than what it came with from the factory. I currently got myself in a situation that I don't really want to talk about but it involves those stupid underdrive pulleys and now I need to pull the engine to either replace the crank or just do a build on it since I will have it out anyways. I have been looking at Haney Motorsports and see that they have some prettynice short blocks for decent prices. But I would like to know if that is the way to go if I am wanting to get the most power out if it while staying n/a. Is there anyone else that you all would recomend to get parts from to do a strong and powerful engine build? Thank you for your time.

Sorry it hurts to say but what exactly happened with the crankshaft due to using the underdrive pulley?
Was it a balance/damping issue and was the crankshaft broken?

I own an 07 pony package 4.0 and I am still thinking about either supercharging it or swapping out for a BOSS 302 crate engine. Thing is if I do, it has to be street legal and I am hoping someone offers or will be offering an fuel injection system for it by the time I make up my mind.

Anyway, I would ask you if you have considered doing the same thing? Swap the stock engine out for a BOSS 302. Just an idea, a suggestion since you're gonna have to spend quite a bit to do what you are thinking about anyway. Good luck with what ever you decide to do though! ;-)

Well the puller that I used ate the threads inside the crank and right after I installed the pulleys I had a check engine light and now I am stuck with a half on stock dampner.

You can't re-tap the threads on the crank snout? Seems like you shouldn't have to rebuild your engine, unless damage has occurred already[&o]

Ouch!
Have you thought of having a professional machinist drill and re-tap it?
Perhaps you could install a helicoil too.
Might not need to pull the engine for either operation ;-).
So your engine is fine otherwise. Don't know why thecheck engine light. Have you pulled the code to see what's up? Tried resetting it? Anyway, guess there's not much point until you get the pulley issue squared away.
Tell me, does the dampener not want to go all the way down on the shaft like it's supposed to? It won't seat like the stock one did/will?
Are you sure the threads are torn up? They may go deeper inside the shaft than you think. You might be able to pull the dampener back off, clean out the messed up threads and re-install the stock dampener and re-install the bolt.
There may even be a repair kit for that problem. Not sure as I've never had to do that before.
One has to be careful with such fitments or one will end up in such trouble. Of course you know that already. ;(

Well I have thought about doing a heli coil or just buying a new crank but I was kind of wanting to see if anyone has had any experience with just making a great running n/a car out of a different engine build. That and my stupidity gives me somewhat of a chance to try and build it before its due (Or before 3500 miles) [:@].

I think wolfey2k is probably right. You should be able to re-tap the hole, definitely have a professional drill and re-tap it because you probably won't have a second chance if it goes wrong. Second if you do have to replace the crank it really is not that big a job to drop the bottom end. I might be wrong, but I can't see it being more than $1,000 to $1,200 toreplace thestock crank. On the other hand while it is apart you could upgrade those powdered rods. Anyway whatever the cost of installing an new crank, it is going to be a lot less than a rebuild or new crate motor. Plus there are a lot of bolt on’s that can up your power for a lot less, like a CAI, tune, and delete plates to go along with your under drive pulleys, if you have not already done this stuff.
