Hello guys I'm having trouble shifting to second and third. What could this be?
A bad shifter install? To much engine/trans movement during shifting? Does it only happen when powershifting? Or does it happen when granny shifting around town?
Cheers!
I see you have the Steeda shifter. I'd pop a look under the car and see if anything is loose or if something happened to the bushings. If so, install the factory shifter and see if its still "funny". In that case, you may want to vist a dealer.

It's only when powershifting. Is it normal for the shifter to move side to side when it is in a gear? BTW when I shift normal it is hard to get it in the gear.

PRGT,
Power shifting is hard for most folks due to the engine and transmission moving around on the very soft engine and transmission hydomountswhich causesmisalignment in the shift linkage which tends to prevent reliable power shifting due to binding of the linkage. But thissounds more like you have an installationor assembly problem. If this is a Steeda Tri-Axe shifter get used to the notchy feeling this is just the way they feel because of the very short throws. You may need to check the installation and install motor mounts and some sort of torque limiting strap to reduce engine movement and shifter misalignement. The Steeda short shifter uses a stock shift housing with a longer lowershift arm which makes it really notchy feeling. The shorter you go the notchier the shifting gets no matter who's shifter it is because the shift "feel" is determined by the transmission's internal mechanisim. For a stock shifter I suggest using firm motor mounts and Steeda's shifter bushings. I'm running Steed motor mounts with thehard black poly mounts instead of theregular firm red mountsalong with a Saleen short shift adapter and Saleen poly shifter mounts and can powershift into 2-4th all day long.

Maybe that would help with your power shifting?

Hi blaven,
Sure it would help with the missed shifts due to the engine movement but all the rest of the time you would have to deal with more noise and vibration. The Steeda motor mounts and Steeda red poly shifter bushings should provide perfect shifting even using a the stock shifter on most any N/A motor. Once yousupercharge the intake more extreme measures will be necessary but as long as he is N/A simple motor mounts and shift bushings will solve the problem perfectly with minimal NVH added to the cabin.
