Default RE: Torque Converter Question

It seems quite a few have fried there 3rd gear band on the a/t after going F/I, will a higher stall TC prevent this or at least help ? I fried mine after about 1500 miles after going FI, I would get a new TC if it would help the trans.

I ran a 3600 Vigilante convertor with great success in my 99 LS-1 camaro , but now I am looking at company called Fuddle Racing convertor, seems like a stout convetor at a great price.. 560 for a triple dics locking convertor...

There is a member over on TMS by the name of Five Oh Brian, shoot him a PM and he can tell you all about Fuddle converters, he runs one on his car.

From what I've heard they are good, high quality converters. However, I must warn you that Fuddle has terrible, terrible customer service. I have not only heard this around different forums, but have had first-hand experience with them. I'd do a quick Google of "Fuddle customer service" and read some of the horror stories before you decide to buy.

Oh, and I'd steer clear of the TCI converters, especially given that you're F/I. Check around the web and see if you can find a deal on a PI triple disc.

There web site states they are now under new management, "Performance Holdings Inc." and the poor customer service has been corrected.

Ha, that's a good one. It would be even better if it were true! I JUST dealt with these folks, this month, and had a very bad experience. They actually don't even make their own converters, a place called Howard's Converters makes them and they are re-branded and shipped as Fuddle Converters. If you want to get one of these converters, contact Howard directly and cut out the middle man (Fuddle)..they tend to "Fuddle" up everything lol (sorry, I couldn't resist). Anyway, Howard is a stand up guy and will take good care of you.

These converters are not widely used in Mustangs (most have probably never even heard of Fuddle), but they're a lot bigger in the F-Body world. Go see what the folks on LS1Tech have to say about Fuddle. They screwed enough people over on that site that they had their sponsor status revoked.

The converters themselves by all accounts are pretty good, but whatever you do don't go through Fuddle. If you're really interested in getting one of these give Howard a call at 801-954-0825.

Thanks for the heads up, will probably give Howard call directly. It's sad how they boost about how good there customer service is now, you'd think in today's enviroment customer service would be top priority.

How has your torque convertor been holding up ? I'm thinking about getting the tci from Brenspeed also. Is it worth getting for a dd, I only go to the strip maybe once a year. Does it make a real differece from a roll when you nail it from 40 or 50 mph, ect.
