throw bearing noise HELP!
Ok here is what's up. Have the Spec's II+ clutch and aluminum flywheel. The throw bearing was making noise had it replaced and clutch bleed, come to find out my flywheel is not the same thickness as the stock steel, but the Spec's kit does not come with shims. And the new throw out bearing makes the same noise. It only happens when you try to launch (let the clutch out quickly at low RPM not racing or anything) and the tires don't spin but the car flexes, the damn thing sounds like it is going to come through the floor board. Has anyone else had an trouble or could offer some advise, even the sponser I am very willing to pay to have this fixed. I have already installed a k-member brace with the torque limiters from CHE and that has helped some with the linkage bind when shifting but has not help out with the throw out bearing problem. This is driving me nuts and I am affraid to take the car to the track with this problem, plus its so loud that is it very embrassing.
My stock clutch makes a gritty, for lack of a better term, type noise when i let it out without enough rpms. I have read many times that aluminum flywheels are noisier/cause more vibrationthan steel, so maybe it's not all the bearing. My clutch as been burnt a few times though so that's probably why mine is noisy.
Are you sure your shifting problem isn't completely the fault of the clutch? I know i've read some posts about people having a problem with aftermarket clutches not wanting to disengage because of a similar thickness issue.

The flywheel is also SPEC? I have had a couple making a loud thump type noise but they were both running Fidanza flywheel's with SPEC II cluches. Swapped out to Stage III and replaced the flywheel and it went away. Not sure if thats the kind of noise you're getting.
Yes both the flywheel and clucth and Specs II. The noise sounds like the bearing is spinning out of control and torqued off center if that makes sense. I wish I had some way to record the sound.
Ditto on the Spec f/w...it is not a direct OEM replacement. If it was not shimmed when installed, that may be where your problems lie. Also, I don't believe any of the aftermarket companies are supplying a new slave cylinder since Ford is the only place you can get it. Oh, another company does make one, McLeod?, but it's $$$$.
