Vortech Charge Cooler
I got my '05 GT with a Vortech VQ S2supercharger, rated forthe 05-08GT. I read on their sitethere is an aftercoolerto go with this s/c that advertises hp gains up to 40hp. Is anyone familiar with this? Would it be tough to install after the blower is already on, etc.. and of course is the hp there.
This is a link to Vortech's + charge cooler page:

Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Not hard to install--cost roughly $1500. IMO, I would look into getting a custom intercooler setup & dyno-tuning for way more than 40hp. The aftercooler vortech sells basically allows you to run more boost(make more power) without getting into detonation. Aftermarket intercoolers start at $200+ or so for those of quality.
I was planning to get the GT dyno-tuned with the Predator tuner that came with the Vortech blower already on the car. I wanted to find out aboutputting the the aftercooler on first, whichI think I willdonow. Thanks for the info.
The only other add-on I am looking atis maybe catbacks, almost too much info to decide on those.
I drove my friend's '06 GT with the stock engine, then mine with thes/c. The Vortech blower alone made my GTseem almost like twice as fast, LOL.. adds a terrific amount of power.
I don't think Vortech iskidding about 100hpwith the s/c for the GT, although Ford is kind of inflating the GT's300 hp stock number, sincethe stock dynojet tests I've seen show245-255rwhp. If I can add another 40+ hp to the s/c output by putting onthe aftercooler before dynotune, it seems well worth the money.

You will need a smaller diameter pulley to get more boost/power with the cooler. Non HO kits are 8.5-9.5 psi while the HO kits are 10.5-11.5 psi, which is where most of the extra power comes from.
I'd like to find out more about this. The cooler kit by itself for the 2005-06 only says "ECM reflash" for the 8N301-290 kit that would seem to go with the '05 GT.

I don't know if the kit shown is a direct bolt-on to the VQ S-2 blower that's on the car now - guess I could call Vortech. The8N301-300 kit that saysa different pulley is needed and has to be sent to Vortech isfor an older F-150 series.
Blowers are great first choice add-ons, but without a really race-built motor underneath, I don't know how much boost is still okay to put on and drive every day... I drove an '89 Ford SHO DOHC V6 with a 3.0 Yamaha block they made for Ford, plusheads and cams and exhaustgoodies for a few years, with theearlier generation very noisy 9psi Vortech on top. Then I put the 12psi blower on and put a rod through the block within a week.. LOL (not)
