small mods to lower 1/4 mile time?

RE: small mods to lower 1/4 mile time?
I wonder if i can do this with the whipple and how much of a difference it would make. Isn't it a bitch to turn without the power steering?
Obviously I'd need a different length belt, but that shouldn't be a problem to figure out.

not sure what you are looking to do but as far as the best bang for buck it's the p/s delete belt.
for $49 you can drop 2-3 tenths and gain about 5mph !!
it's simple to change and can be done at the track in minutes and then returned to stock for the drive home just as fast.

moose,
If you show me a pic of your current routing I can figure out what length belt(approx) you need.
I've also run mine with the a/c deleted also but it didn't amke any noticeable change and it rquired switching some pulleys around so I just stick with deleting the p/s pump only. I've even run my car with no belt (e-w/p) and it drops another full tenth by deleting the alternator but the battery will only last for 1 run. I tried 2 runs and by the time i got to my trailer the car would barely run and the battery was toast (optima).
It's pretty simple. the p/s pump eats up at least 25hp at high rpms and the alternator another 10-15hp . you need your alternator but at the dragstrip you don't need p/s. the wheel isn't that hard to turn and when the car is moving it's actually not too bad. remember you aren't going to drive around town like that just at the track.
the only tool you need is a 1/2 drive ratchet to depress the tensioner so you can remove/install the belt. It takes about 2-3 minutes to swap them out.
As with everything on my website I've tested it in every configuration possible and this mod is absolutely the best cheap mod you can do.
where else can you get a real 25+hp gain, drop at least 3 tenths and gain 5+mph for $49?????
I include the revised routing diagram with the belt.

I've got a 2006 Mustang GT Bullitt 5spd. Its completely stock....at the moment. Im trying to figure out what are some small things I could buy for the car and hopefully have it runnin low 13's high 12's.

You can scroll down to page 36 and see the whipple belt routing. It uses a 124.7 inch belt, so 23 inches longer than stock. How much shorter than stock is the belt you use? the whipple has a sliding idler pulley to allow some leeway with the belt size, but not much.
I can use some string to find the belt size, it's just a matter of doing it.

HI, Here is a link to my mods, in my quest to hit 12's N/A on street tires... not there yet but working on it. Your elevation and learning to drive your car properly will be a factor as well. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2460665/1
Good luck.

Nothing is better than the following combo, IMHO
LCAs/UCA , 3.73 or 4.10 gears, CAI w/ tune, M/T Drag Radials
With alot more 1/4 mile practice I feel I will get close to 12.9 with just those mods !!
