What's my hp?

What's my hp?
Ok, I just bought my first car recently. 2005 mustang gt. I'm trying to make it fast enough to keep up w/ my buddies 06 gto 400. I have flowmaster mufflers, x pipes and a new K & N cold air intake. What should my hp be at? I raced an 06 gto the other day twice and beat him both times. I think he must have been a horrible shifter. Also, what should I but next to increase my hp? thanx for the help.

RE: What's my hp?
Maybe 270-290 to the rear wheels with a canned tune for the K&N (depending on which CAI you have- mine at the time did not require a tune (K&N) and after the tune I could feel the power increase). Its not just HP that wins races!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the forum! J

RE: What's my hp?
Other things you can do to increase HP: the list is long. At the top in terms of both $ and HP are the obvious - supercharge, turbo or nitrous and/or built engines.
The cheaper bolt on mods produce much more modest gains:
- CAI (you already have)
- Custom Tune (not clear if you have)
- Long tube headers (decent gain)or shortys (small gain)
- UDPs (reduce parasitic losses)
- Aluminum driveshaft (reduce parasitic losses)
You can also go on a diet, starting with lighter weight wheels.
You can also transfer power you have to the ground more effectively with certain suspension pieces and bigger tires.
Lots of options....and $. Welcome to the world of modding.

Silversurfer is correct, A stock GTO should/will lose to a tuned stang....I have read that a stock stang would even beat the stock GTO.
Have fun adding mods. Something else to consider would be gears. That will really make the car hop!

RE: What's my hp?
stock vs stock the GTO will win in the 1/4 mile. its got 100 more hp. the stang may be able to keep up at low end but up top is where those GTO's, LS1's start pulling away. the stang may be better off the line, but those LS1's just walk around us, stock that is.
