How come people always rate equipment based on hp when it is only a measure of work. Torque is a measure of force.

thats kinda what Ive been getting at- 1 hp could easily snap our axles off if 'infinite' traction existed on a car that is restrained, and gearing was like 1000:1 - yet it would still be only 1hp.

1000 hp geared 1:1 at the axle wouldgive ballistic top speed, but couldnt twist an axle off.

I still think tires #1 in saying what it can handle, as they are the primary torque peak limiter. if you could put 5.13 gearsand topfueler slicks on a stock mustang, bet the stock engine would easily break the axle first time the clutch is dumped at 5k- yet itsstill only 300 hp.
a 500 hp @10,000 rpm turbine wont hurt the axle or spin the tires, yet a 250 hp @ 2500 rpmbigblockwouldeasily do one or the other...

torque peaks break stuff, twice the hp at twice the rpm= same torque...

I don't know about the diff but the axles on the 05's and up are 31 spline, previous years used 28 spline. It's going to take a lot to break these axles.
I bent one of my stock axels, so I am going Moser and I will probably add a differential at the same time.

So the Tru trac is the best for a DD?
