Default ...and so it begins

After reading many posts on the forum I finally ordered the C&L street intake with the X-cal 3 from Brenspeed. Its coming w/ 89, 91, and 93 octane tunes.

Can anybody give me an idea of the power differences in these tunes? Are the gains enough between say the 89 and 93 tunes to offset the price difference of fuel?
Thanks for any input. Can't wait to start modifying my stang!

congrats on the CAI/tune
idk what the difference is between the different octane tunes, but i'm sure it will be a lot of fun testing it out.[sm=gears.gif]

There's little difference between custom tunes; very subtle. I'd guess maybe 5-7 HP from 89 to 93. However, I find my 89 tune pulls harder in the lower RPM range while my 93 tune pulls harder in the upper range. There's abigger noticeable differencegoing from the stock 87 tothe custom 87 tune then cuatom 87 to custom 93.

Hopefully you won't run into this, but I opted for an 87 custom tune because I travel a lot and I ran into 2 instances when I could only get 87 octane while on the road. I simply pulled out the tuner, retuned and was back on the road in minutes.

ditto. keep my tuner with me just in case.
ditto. small differences on the HP, if you do a dyno day somewhere take a couple of pulls with one tune and a couple with another tune. the shop might even make quick changes to your tune while you are there (increase timing, etc.)
