Default Compatibility - Hot Rod Cams / Whipple?

I am in urgent need of some insight. I have a new Foose currently being prepped at the dealership for a Whipple, FRPP Shorty Headers, and the Hot Rod Cams. I understand the cams are not the best for FI and in fact because of the high duration the cams may actually cause the boost to drop a couple of pounds.

My question is for any of you running the Hot Rod Cams and a Whipple, did you run into problems with this combination. More specifically, I have had a number of correspondences from someone else that did this and has had nothing but issues with trying to get it tuned. In fact, mentioned that I would probably need to change out the MAF and turn off the O2 sensors. The O2 sensors are probably not an option for me to turn off because of being subject to NC State Inspections and Emissions testing.

I really would appreciate any experiences that you may have run into.

By the way, the Foose you see on here is now pushing up daisies from an unfortunate encounter with an Escalade. So yes, I am talking a new Foose in this thread.

I do know that Comp Cams has cams that are specifically for supercharged applications. I would either talk to them or talk to the good folks at Whipple and ask them for a camshaft recommendation.

hey MyLocalDJ, i think the best
info is going to come from VCOAT
and MUSTANGLOUIE, both have
custom dyno tunes and have very
respectable numbers.

hopefully one or both will chime in
soon....

also if your tuner has problems, he can
call Bill @ mongillo motors, he did Vic's
tune

Hey Hammeron... when you went this route, did you have any issues that I should think about? This is a new car and the dealer is supposed to be doing all of this before I take delivery and has subsequently suggested that I let them take it to a tuner in the area. (At my cost of course.) I am okay with that but am a little nervous based on a thread from another forum where a guy was having all kinds of problems initially with this combination. Hopefully, I am worried for nothing.

well i didn't want to say anything, but
my car is getting custom dyno tuned
this week. my car has stock exhaust and
there are emissions testing where i live, sooooo
if my tuner can work his magic, it will mean
good things for you as well.

i should hear from him in a few days, whether
the car is tunable or if it's a pile of junk....

Looks like we both will have results about the same time then. The Ford dealer I am working with is waiting on the cams to come in to complete the mod package, then it is off to the tuner. We were hoping to go this Friday but it looks like the cams may not be here until Monday. I have asked the parts department to consider having another set sent overnight and then returning the ones that come in Monday. That way we could possibly hit Friday for the tuner. I also sent a PM to vcoat and mustanglouie to see if they had any information.

So I take it that your car was okay with the install and you are just looking for performance gains or were there concerns that prompted you to make this decision?

if you're getting an S/C, then get a cam designed to work with it.

It should be tunable but if you want a cam get the Comp Cam Custom Twin Screw grind from Brenspeed or one of Comp Cam's other blower cams.
