Default Newbee CAI/ tune install question

Hello, please be patiant with my newbee question. I have had many cars and have always installed some upgrade of intake or performance filter in them. Question is , can the Steeda intake / tune be intalled by me?. I have some mechanical ability , but I don't understand the whole tune thing. Where do you plug in the tune? Does a dealer do it ? Please , someone , explain the whole tuning process and what that calculater looking thing is. I know , it's a lame question, but I have installed intakes before , but I'm confused on how to , where to, when to use the programing , calculater looking thing. Thanks

The install including the tune loading is very easy. Go to www.brenspeed.com and look for their "How-To" videos which show the step-by-step. The CAI takes about 1/2 - 1 hour to install. The tune plugs in under the dash below the steering wheel and loading your tune takes maybe 2 minutes. Loading the tune is plug-n-play. Just follow the prompts.

Assuming you don't have any other mods that the custom tunes would take into account, figure on roughly 15-25 RWHP gain with ANY of the CAI & tune combos. There is a noticeable difference from the stock 87 tune to the custom 87 octane tune and less noticeable (yet still distinct) difference between the custom 87 and the higher octane tunes.

you only need a screwdriver, a socket wrench, and a torx driver. I can go from stock tune/intake to jlt and brenspeed tune in under 20 minutes without rushing. its a very very easy process. the tuner has a cable that plugs into your obd port which is located by your left knee if you are sitting in the drivers seat. with your car off, you plug the tuner in and follow the directions on the tuner. it takes less than 5 minutes to change tunes.

One more question. Is reliability affected at all and , I assume the warranty is void after install? . If it is , is it possible to have ford racing intake installed at the dealer and still be covered?. Thanks, you people are great.

Put your panties back on and don't sweat the dealership. I've had my Stang in and didn't bother to swap back to stock. Simply inform them they are NOT to reflash the PCM. They can't deny you warranty work unless they can prove that the aftermarket item caused the failure that they are doing the warranty work for.
