when you did the compression test, did you also do a wet test?

im not 100% dead set on what the actual issue is, ill tear it apart this weekend to inspect the cam phasers and cams.

ill do a leak down test also.
Well hopefully it is just the cam phasers on those cylinders causing the low compression, but I do not know exactly how the VCT on these cars work. Lets hope you can just replace those phasers and be back to normal.

By wet test, you mean pouring some oil in the cylinder to see if compression increases?

pour about a cap full "maybe" a tad more. Then do another test on those two cylinders, if the compression increases it would point to the rings. If it does not increase at all then it would point to the valves not sealing properly or possibly a tweaked rod

VCT controls the cam timing by oil pressure. It wouldnt be able to affect just 2 cylinders on that bank, it would affect all 4. pretty much VCT is just a hydraulic controlled adjustable cam gear. It would be nice if his problem was that small, but i dont think it is

Yeah, I just read there are only 2 phasers, bummer.
