Exclamation Major CAI Problem Please help

first of all im pretty new at this so give me a break
ive been having some issues with the tune/cai i ordered from american muscle!!!!!

I have an Automatic 2005 Mustang GT with Slp Loudmouths, Steeda Throttlebody Spacer, JLT Cold Air Intake, and SCT X3.
When i got the x3 i got the free custom tune. I asked for the the 87 performance tune.

When i got it all setup and evertything i loved it i thought it was a lot faster but it isnt it just felt like it because as you told me the shifts are much firmer.
My Best friend just got an 06 gt and we only installed exhaust and his is other then that stock is completely faster we tested it several times.

It seems like my acceleration is just horrible. i remember before the tune i was kinda thrown back into the seat with acceleration and the tires would spin with acceleration but not since i did the tune which should add power.

I called last week and I think the some guy told me to return the car tune to stock and install it the custom tune again and then test it out again. I did try it and was the same. when we tested it out my friend even had 3 people in his car thats alot of extra weight and was faster and his stang is pretty much stock except for the axle backs.

It seems like it has to do with something with the tune with the acceleration and throttle lag or something!!!!

Thanks in Advance for your help,
Anton Jemiolo

Without getting into if its the CAI or not.......... it sounds like he is getting you off the line ..like a 0 to 80 mph type race? What gear ratios are the two cars running I think CD and CG are the two different ratios one is 3.31 the other 3.55 .......and the 3.55's will pull much faster.

Would recommend a tillman/bama/bren custom too as well as IMHO the canned tunes are not that great

Ditch the canned tune and get a custom one from Bama, he is great with the auto. Also, some cars are just faster than others, no two are exactly the same. If I were you I would also ditch the TB spacer.

First mistake was getting the canned tune from AM. I suggest you call Bama or Brenspeed and order some custom tunes. They can tell you how to load them onto your tuner.

the canned tune is not specific to the car... I would return the car to the stock tune and do some testing with the stock tune. It might just be that an 87 tune (cars runs on 87 anyway) might not be all its cracked up to be and a custom tune from BAMA, brenspeed, or Tillman will be more specific to the car itself. does that help explain it?

So theres barely any acceleration? You cant get the tires to spin? With my Brenspeed tune I BARELY crack the throttle and the tires let loose.

so i got an e-mail back from american muscles tuner guy and he said
"To be honest with you, it is probably because you're using an 87 octane
tune. 87 octane is very poor for performance. If you want, you can just give
us a call and set up an order for a new tune, and we can tune you for 91 or
93 octane. 93 octane will get you the biggest horsepower gain, and it will
be a very noticeable difference in power and acceleration."

so i called and their going to send me that tune well see what happens
