CAI Confusion..

CAI Confusion..
I got some different takes on this, so I don't know what to chose now. I got an 09 GT, manual, 3.55 gears, bone stock, and besides this CAI/Tuning I don't plan other power mods so I just wanted a CAI/Tuning for it, so I asked a few tuning shops about it, (brenspeed, Evolution etc..)and get a different opinion on which to chose based on the Mass Air Flow.
One shop said that if my car is stock if I get the C&L "Racer" with the 95mm MAF I would actually loose power because I got no other engine mods, the other said I'd be fine. B-A-M-A does a C&L "Racer" with the "Street" 85mm MAF, should I opt for the JLT that's in the middle with a 87mm ?????

It dosesn't matter which since your car can only "ingest" so much. I don't think you'd LOSE power with the racer but you certainly would ONLY gain IF you were heavily modded internally and/or aspirated. Just as long as it's larger than stock. Any of the tune-required CAI's will work just fine. Try not to lament about which one, though, since the CAI is about 20-25% of the power adder of the combo. It's the tune that makes or breaks it.

It's a toss up on performance between C&L's Street and Racer intakes. For a N/A S197 GT, the Street makes slightly more power between 3300-5200 rpm, and the Racer is slightly more powerful beyond 5200 rpm.

I have a 95mm and when it was the only mod the power was excellent, no loss at all. Opinions from shop to shop differ because of what they pay for the CAI, One shop might make more profit on C&L, another might make more profit on JLT etc...
