Default Warranty is up... Time for more power

My car just passed the 36K mile point. I have been waiting to start the mods to increase pwer until now. My question is, which type of Supercharger/blower (Roots, centrifugal, etc) is the best for the money(I'm on somewhat of a budget, less than $6500 total), gives the most horsepower, and is the best for motor longevity, lowest boost/max horsepower betwwn 2K and 5K rpm. I don't drag race and rarely take it up to 6000 RPM or go top end. I like the stoplight to stoplight playing. I assume a roots style would be best for the low end power, but am not sure. I have started reasearch, and plan to by on by may 15th. Please don't give me you opnion based on what youve heard or read. I need factual information from people who have experience it the good, bad and ugly from having lived it.

*deleting what I just typed because I don't own a supercharger*

But I will share with you some information I compiled. I found 3 dyno sheets and put the data together into one sheet for comparison. One sheet is a typical CAI & tune. One is Saleen's 475hp kit. One came from a non-intercooled vortech setup (belonging to Mudflap, a member here).

It illustrates what most people talk about - the twin screw being strong across the rpm band and the centri getting strong in higher rpms.

How's that non-intercooled Whipple working out?

400+rwhp is what I'm looking for. I have looked at Whipple. Being non-cooled kinda bugs me (maybe it shouldn't). But HO kit is way more than I need for 400+rwhp.

I love my KB and I am still on the original serpentine belt after 3 years.
Never had any problems with this kit.

I will soon be in the same boat and looking to start the upgrade process.
I will use mine for street mostly and not at the track or strip.
I was leaning to the V3 wo the intercooler, but looking at that chart I'm not to sure.
The V3 looked good, because it was imple and seems cost effective without having to do a lot of add ons.
The V# may not add that much more than NA with add ons.
I am also looking for speed and TQ at the low end and may get what I need without a blower.

This doesn't help the OP but I just wanted to mention to anyone reading this and considering the same thing that it's against federal law to "void" the warranty due to any modification. The law was passed in 1975 which was after the greatest boom and bust of car modification in America, surpassing even todays trend. At this time warranties were voided and this was a real result to almost every enthusiast. now thanks to lobbying exclusively by the SEMA organization, which represents most companies that manufacture modifications, OEM manufacturers can no longer void car warranties due to aftermarket parts. Obviously if a modifications breaks something mechanical you have to fix what broke just like if you damage your car's body it's not warrantied and though your car body has a warranty.

Law also requires that manufacturers have a warranty arbitration process which has consumer advocacy in mind. Ford actually has the simplest to use system where they've established a 1800 number to call something in to Ford Corporate. ask your dealer about where to arbitrate your warranty claims.

Also there have been over 5,000 threads on this forum backing this subject up and I'm not pulling that number out of my *** but at one point I actually looked it up.

Also I too have compiled a comparison of the various supercharger in terms of output. The vortech style superchargers are inferior to both turbos and twin screws in every measurable and conceivable way at the exact same price point of $4500 for the kits intercooled, and at the exact same safety levels based on boost and operating temperature of the kits. Votech's even sound like internally vented turbos so there's nothing good about them.

If you avoid the common heavy mark ups the Saleen Supercharger is the best kit.

I would get the Saleen 475 kit from Brenspeed and have them install it including a free local stay in an upscale location. It's the best deal around for a high output supercharger kit on the stock engine under your 6.5k otherwise you're going to need to settle for a Saleen 435 kit etc.

You mean you've driven 36,000 miles just to wait to have more fun? Man, that's like getting married and not having sex for almost 3 years. I can't believe people wait to do anything to their cars.
