CAI not for automatics?
#11
I just picked up a 06 GT from our local dealer who says they will not install a KN CAI in my automatic stating it will kick the check enging light on.[ not standereds however ] I called KN and they say a well adjusted motor will have no issues. does anyone know anything about this? Also what would you say is the best bang for the buck, tuner or CAI. I have exhast and transgo reprogammer which by the way I would not recommend as a daily driver add on. any movement under 4k on the tack you really don't notice and not worth the $ 700 I gave the dealer who said I would sleep in my car just to be near the tranny I would like it that much....Mahalo for your input

If your budget does not allow for both a tuner and a CAI, then recommend getting the tuner. It will add power, and also improve driveability by eliminating the stock tune's throttle lag as well as improving your auto tranny's performance. Highly recommend BamaChips' Race tune. And if you go this route, then suggest saving $ for a CAI. It will definitely work nicely with the tune to increase power even more.

Getting just the tuner will not only give you instant gratification, it can be switched back to stock much easier than having to remove the CAI also.
But you really want to get tuner and CAI together, and don't buy a "chip", as I've never heard anyone use one on a S197

I go to Penn State main campus, and I thought the nearest performance shop was CJ's in Harrisburg!

#1 the dealer is a dumb ****.
#2 the CAI and tune combo is a great way to start-- throw on gears 3.73 and you will be set for a while
I have the 06 auto and I can attest to the night and day difference in performance.
