Default 2005 Mustnag GT Trouble Starting

I have a 2005 Mustang GT with about 40,000 miles on it. Every once in awhile I have an issue trying to start my car. Initially when I try and start it, the car will start, sputter and die, and I smell the sweet aroma of Gasoline. Then when I wait awhile, it will start up (after some help). This is starting to get pretty annoying.

I have another issue, which may or may not be related, my fuel-gauge needle is pointing in the down direction, not on empty just straight down. And it does seem to move as I use gas.

Thanks,
Nigel

Now the battery is dead and the car still wont start. And the odd thing is all week when it was 105 outside it was fine, now it's only 98 and it dies. Wonder if I should concede and have it towed to a shop?

Yea it happened to me once in a while. Usually just goes away by itself. I guess its got something to do with the oxigen sensors not reporting correctly leading to overly rich mixture that does not want to burn... Usually happens when the weather suddenly gets warmer...

Its time to replace your inline fuel filter. Should have been done at 35000 miles. Whats going on is the fuel is not getting to the injectors as fast as it should due to a dirty filter.
