Hey guys first post in the Tech Section. So here's the run down, I have an 08 gt, with abou 18K miles on it. Only performance mods I've done are a tune, BBK intake, and flowmaster axle backs. I'm running my 93 octane tune, and have never gone back to 87 since I switched 3 or 4 months ago.
Anyway lately, it's been throwing this code, I've cleared it several times and it keeps coming back. I read how it can be related to the gas cap, but I've unscrewed and reclosed it several times, with no change.
My question, is does anyone think I should reflash back to 87 for a while and see what happens? Or maybe just reflash the 93 performance tune? Flash it back to stock, and take it to the dealer?
I'm afraid if I go back to the dealer, they'll say it's because of my intake or tune. I don't have the stock intake, but I can reflash to stock.
Thoughs, ideas, comments?
Thanks

So far I reflashed to stock. I'm waiting on another forum member who's loaning me a stock airbox/hose. Once I have that I'm going to get it to the dealer it's only got 18k miles so hopefully it will get fixed under warranty whatever it is.

Well if anyone was curious this turned out to be a costly little mistake. So apparently Ford states that by installing my axle back Flowmaster mufflers someone moved a hose and check valve for the carbon/charcoal filter. Anyway when this hose moved the hose and check valved melted due to rubbing against my exhuast pipe on the driver side. It was right about in the top of the bend of the over axle section of the rear exhuast.
So long story short, my local crappy dealer said it wasn't covered under warranty and happily charged me $89 just to get my car back for diagnosis. The quote for repairs by the dealer was $300 and this is the best part I was told "We won't rebend the brackets to prevent this from happening again, just fix it". This was what the service manager at the dealer told me.
Took it to Powered by Ford in Orlando, they fixed it for $100, parts were only $28?? Plus of course they rebent all the necessary brackets to prevent this rubbing again.
So moral of the story, Tropical Ford sucks! They totally went out of there way to find a little problem to not cover it under warrantly. Plus after tellling me it wasn't covered they had the ***** to charge me so much just to get my car back.

#1: You should have done the exhaust install yourself. It's a simply DIY and you either know you did it right or, if you screwed it up, you have only yourself to blame.
#2: If you reflash back to stock w/o swapping back to the stock airbox, you'll eventually throw another code for running lean. Going back to the dealer that way is as bad if not worse than leaving your aftermarket CAI & tune installed.
#3: No matter how good you think a dealership is, at some point in time they'll get up your azz.
Glad it's fixed and it wasn't anything more serious.
