I bought the gears from Brenspeed with the master install kit, so I'm thinking my install should be fairly cheap. I've yet to call Woodbine as I haven't gotten my package yet, it should be here either tomorrow or Thursday.

If they quote me $350 or more, I might end up just going to Ford. Not sure yet!

As far as future plans, actually, not really. I plan on doing gears, intake+tuner, and possibly LCAs. After that, I'm going to enjoy the car for a year, as save up to buy a brand new 2011 with that big 5.0

Be very, very careful as who you choose to do the install. On my '06 auto GT, I went from the stock 3.31's to 3.73's and opened up a can of worms. I had a local shop do it, the gears whined like hell, and then re- done twice again with a Ford dealer, and with a second set of 3.73's...still whining like hell, but even louder!!! (They whine from 60- 40 mph, especially on coast) The shop and the Ford dealer said its just the new FRPP gears, no matter what. Ford said they did everything right. They had the proper preload set, pinion depth, used new bearings, and mesh pattern is correct. Its a reputable Ford SVT/Motorsport Ford Racing dealer, too. Other people tell me its a bad install, no matter what, its been done wrong. Who do I believe? Now, over a $1,000 into this, I'm thinking of just getting the 3.31's back in and thats it, done! I'm so disgusted and really regret doing it. Done with doing any more "mods" crap to this car, and I've havent done much to it, what a waste of cash. Car sounds like total sh*t! I don't wanna be a buzzkill here, just stating my sorry story as a cautionary tale.

Good luck with the install, hope all goes well.

BTW If you're looking for night and day differences, 3.73's will not do it. I was a little disappointed. I listened to the "3.73 for auto, 4.10 for stick" rule. The car with the 3.73's has just a little more punch to it, its not drastic at all on the track.. Barely noticed a difference on the highway as far as cruising rpms and mpg, so I feel there's room to move to go to 4.10's

Default 3.73 pinion gear shim thickness size?

I need help with my gear install just the pinion depth is what I need and just having trouble on that part so my 06 mustang came with a 3.55 gear ratio and the original pinion shim I measured was a (0.023”)inches and Im switching to 3.73 ford racing performance gears and I’ve been reading and looking on YouTube to see what type of pinion shim they use for 3.73 pinion shims, some people say it’s (0.030”) inches for the 3.73 pinion shim but some other people say they use there original shim still, which is a good shim size for the 3.73 pinion shim? I’m down to my last 100$ and I really don’t wanna waste a good bearing, and I know I could take it to the shop but I wanna learn how to fix my mustang and other rides in the later future
