I am looking for a relatively cheap, reliable solution for a good gain from stock. Not looking for max performance win my division type of motor. If anything I think what Stkjock talked about with the aluminator is probably gonna be the most reliable way to get my boost up and reuse most stock pieces I can (i.e. save money)

it's hard for us to recommend parts or even
a build strategy, because we don't know
exactly what the budget is and the final rwhp
goal.

it's sounding more though like you would like to
do a practical build with limitations. in this
case, i think the build BruceH did, may be what
you are looking for.

Hemmeron, I'm surprised! you usualy dont miss posts
This was after the first list Mike gave me, that made me very surprised he would link a $17,000 motor

I belive this setup is equivelent to taking my stock block into a shop, having them bore it for me and installing the rotating assembly then reassembling. I belive I can do everything but the boring of the block, so if I can get the parts off the old block and then onto the new block, then flat bed it to the shop and all they have to do is time and tune, I am thinking this would save me tons of money. Looking to probably get this car into the 550-600 RWHP range. MAYBE a little more then that, but this assembly is supposed to be good well past that range.

what did i miss lol

i've been following the thread....i think mike
was serious on the first list, but after you
poo pooed it, he threw the second link in
for laughs.

i wish BruceH had done a detailed write up
of the budget forged internals build. it's
something a lot of folks try to put together
on their own, but aren't sure about a few
of the steps.

sorry had to go backand cut and paste the second quote, its up there now.

your right though, I wish there were some write ups. When I see people talk about doing this, I usualy see in the 6K+ range. It just seems like considering the cost of parts, you should be able to get it done much cheaper and still be reliable.

one of the questions, is whether you want to
surpass the torque rating of the stock
crankshaft. if you do, then you'll not only
need a forged crank but also an 8 bolt
flywheel. this could be $1000 added to the
build right there.

hard for me to say, but it might put you
around 550rwhp. if that was as high as
you plan to go, then doing a budget
build with just forged rods and pistons, is
one way to go.

well the setup I linked here:
http://www.stage3motorsports.com/pro...d_Pistons.html

does come with the steel crank also. I guess that just leaves me questioning the flywheel.

power is so darn expensive!

$6000 to go from 265rwhp > 500rwhp

$5000 to go from 500rwhp > 600rwhp.
