Questions about forged stroker block asembly.
I have $3200 total into my build. That's with a new block, gaskets, seals, fasteners, machine shop, bearings, rings, coolant, oil, sealant, everything. I did all the labor myself. Borrowed an engine stand and hoist. Machine shop bill was $560 including tax. I used factory head bolts and main cap bolts, that alone saved $400 over using studs. I could of saved even more by using my block and crank, about $800. I want to keep my stock shortblock as is for now, it's just sitting in the garage.
Do a search on one-eyed ****** build. It gave me the blueprint for mine, although I did a few things differently. He's holding over 500rwhp. IIRC he's into it less than $2500.
JD, you said you want a stroker. That will up the cost but there are some saleen stroker kits still on ebay for $1300 starting bid.
I decided against a stroker because our motors are already square bore vs stroke. I've always been taught that you never want to go under bore on a motor. It may be an old way of thinking but to me it makes sense. Also Stock displacement is good alot of power when forced induction is used.
Assembling the motor isn't difficult. I covered everything I did on my thread because I was sure someone else would want to do it in the future. BTW I had never assembled a motor before this.
Try this link for an idea of what's involved: http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=159&viewfile=Engine.pdf I also didn't buy any of the Ford specialty tools, made do with what I had. I did have to buy a ring compressor, $5 at Harbor Freight.
The shortblock you posted a link to will need adapters for the motor mounts.

Thanks for the info, all though the stroker was only cause I saw the deal on the block with forged internals. I dont specifacaly want a stroker, just trying to get ideas of what could hold the amount of power I'm looking into getting.

that's the FRPP catalog for the motor.. you'll have to shop for pricing

Nice! thank you. so with that setup, I can bolt up a new 8bolt flywheel, and then move everything over from current motor, and thats that, forged internals. The question becomes then, as I have not priced this. Is it more expensive for me to buy that block then pay to have it timed and tuned, or to get the internal kit I want for say 1600-1900 and bring it to a shop and have them install?
well I been thinking about this. stkjock linked that aluminator. The aluminator is $4500.
Now the aluminator says it uses this block:
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=9559
$1379
Now if I can take that and use this kit:
http://www.stage3motorsports.com/pro...d_Pistons.html
for $1550
If I can assemble myself, seems like pretty close in equivelancy to the assembled alluminator but at a cost of $2929. I tell ya, I was looking at doing a bunch of suspension stuff with tax returns, but if I could order this stuff, take my time assembling it.... I might just have to do something like this.
Oh and I was looking around, i found a few options for 8 bolt flywheels, looked like 350-400. Will my cluch bolt up to that or would I need a new one of those as well. About 500 miles on my spec stage 3 atm.
