enlightening is the key. as you can see it's not a step
by step, it's purpose is to show that us avereage, ordinary
DIY'ers can pull this off, with good preparation and
careful execution.

Did you use the aluminator supplied oil pump?

yes. in fact i didn't change anything at all about
the way it came from frpp. the windage tray, oil
pump and main cap bolts were all left as is. this
was a personal choice of mine and some may choose
to do things differently and that's fine, i say use your
own good judgement on this.

nice job hammer! im about to purchase a used shortblock to start collecting pieces to build a built shortblock of my own soon. glad i came across this thread. i have a lot to learn about doing something like this but i'm hoping i can do most of the work myself other than boring and honing the block.

confidant i could pull it off.

good job but i got a question, is the short block you use the same short block that also comes with the 4v heads, if so could you have purchased the shork block with the 4v heads and used it in your year mustang, would there be an advantage or disadvantage to using the 4v heads.

those are good questions Ronn, i have to say though i have no idea. maybe
someone else can do some google searches and look on the frpp website
then answer them. all i know for sure is the block i used, was designed for
the 3v heads.

Holy crap man. A non-mechanic pulling this off?

In a way, I look forward to the day when my Stang is more of a toy than a DD so that I could do this.

oh i've seen your work and your write ups shanec, there's no doubt in my
mind that you could easily do this when the time comes.

This is my favorite part of hammeron's FAQ:

Do you have any tips to make removing/installing the
engine any easier?

No.

BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

hammeron, imagine a beer coming your way. You deserve one. From me and everybody else here who loves American horsepower.
