The K&N isnt always better. The GT500 Filter has very deep pleats increasing surface area of the factory filter. Their have been documented cases of the K&N costing power in that application.

On the 2010/2011 800 cfm GT Airbox I have not loooked at the factory Motorcraft filter to compare. If the factory filter appears to have greater surface area I would be careful of the "butt dyno".

If the factory filter is not the enhanced design I would expect 1-2 rwhp from the K&N. On the 2005-2009 GT the K&N was worth as much as 3 rwhp. I would suspect somewhat less on the 2010 because the air intake already flows 50% more air.

PS I also am somewhat sceptical of the need for an aftermarket air intake on the 2010.

I know I only got probably 1-2 HP with the K&N filter....I just wanted to point out that throttle response got a little better.

Hey Livinloud98, what problems are you having with SCT?...I plan on getting one with a Bama tune.

They have not yet programmed the SCT tuner to run my computer code. I'd give bama a call and give them your computer code and ask if they can do it before you go and buy it.

IMO, drop-ins are useless. If you want the most from your intake, the CAI & tune combo is the only way to go. The CAI & tune nets you roughly 5 more RWHP than the drop-in & tune or a stand-alone tune does.

I went with the K&N Drop in and Bama tune on my 2010 ... Didn't want to blow an extra $300 on a CAI when the OEM one appears to be just as good as the aftermarkets.

Drop-Ins may be useless on 2005-2009 ... but with the new OEM CAI on the 2010's ... it may help more than prior years.

That's why I went with the drop in. And I still swear I got better throttle response just from the filter. It's not night and day but if you know your car well enough, you can tell.
