I have taken the shifter apart and modified where the position selector locks are. I call this a "poor man's" ratchet shifter, ha ha.

I can shift from 1 to 2 with a positive stop at 2. I can go from 1 to 2 and back to 1 without pressing the shift release button. Going from 2 to 3 requires pressing the release button and then the shifter will lock at the 3 position. 3 to D also requires the shifter release button to be pushed, then the shifter will lock in the D position. Easy mod with a dremmel tool.

TCI Shifter mod

So I recently got a TCI ratchet shifter for a 10-12 mustang, after finding nothing for the 05-09. After doing some comparisons, I figured out that all you have to switch is the silver cover on the shifters...no console cutting, just watch that you don't loose the pin in the O/D switch, . Pretty simple..works and looks great.
