Alternator Problems

Alternator Problems
I've been posting in another thread about some problems I've been having.
It seems that the alternators in the '05's and 06's are often the cause of so many different problems that show up as CEL's because of bad diodes, etc.
What alternator is the best to buy to replace the stock part? If Ford is best, does anyone know what the current part number is for the best replacement piece that will hopefully work for more than a few months. Or are there any aftermarket ones that are better than anything that Ford makes?

PA alternators are the best ones to get....

They do have a 200amp one as well if you have a killer stereo system in the car.

If you're replacing the alternator, be sure to replace the OE battery if you still have it. The OE MotorCrap (or other weak battery) can assist a sick alternator into an early grave. Try an Interstate battery.

A friend of mine is an expert on alternators and starters [http://www.aeimich.com/]. He took one look under the hood of my 2010 and said that is one of the best alternators on the market today much better than what mustang used to come with. Sorry I can't be of more help only that the new one is from some Japanese company and is greatly improved quality.

Actually Nuke, I have a brand new Optima Red Top sitting in my garage just waiting to go in if necessary. When my son had the original problem with the car while I was away, I started checking old threads on this and a few other Forums looking for a cause. I kept coming up with a possible bad battery so ordered the Red Top. When I got home and started checking things myself, I started thinking it was more the Alternator. Since my second round of problems this past weekend, now I'm thinking it's a unusual current draw that I need to find as stated in the other thread that you've been trying to help me on.
And 908ssp: You're saying that the stock Ford Alternator that came in your 2010 is one of the best made - right?? I assume there's been no design changes in the way they mount between '05 and '10. I did look up a replacement for 2010 Mustang GT on a local Ford dealers parts page but they only list the engine as a 5.4 liter and the Alternator doesn't look anything like the one I have so there's a bad link in the system that probably shows the Alternator for a Ford truck.
