Default Tuner Question

So I’ve been reading through the posts and i keep seeing the Brenspeed tuner, I don’t know too much about tuners though. I have a 2007 GT/CS 4.6 I haven’t done anything to it yet just looking for some ideas. Are there any other tuners I should be considering instead of the one i listed above?

There is no such thing as a Brenspeed tuner if you are talking about a device.
Brenspeed is a company that makes tunes to GO ON your tuner device

The tuner they use is the SCT X3.

AmericanMuscle also makes great tunes for the SCT X3 Device.
The SCT X3 is the most commonly used tuner device for these vehicles
and it is great. I would stay with that device.

As far as WHERE to buy the tunes to go on the device both
AmericanMuscle and Brenspeed are top names and they are the places
most people here buy tunes from if they do not get their cars
dynotuned at a custom shop. (Which involves putting your car
on a dyno and hooking it up to a computer)

If you have a Carroll Shelby GT, do not bother with a tuner. It is already calibrated from the factory @ 319 HP. That is about what you could expect from a tuner / CAI combo

GT/CS stands for GT/California Special edition.

The stock '05-'09 4.6L (not including the Bullitt) is rated 300 crank HP and typically dyno around 265 RWHP. After a CAI & good custom tune combo from either Brenspeed or AM, you'll be putting down roughly 285-290 RWHP which equates to about 335 CRANK HP.

I stand corrected. Thank you. Then what you need is a CAI / tuner combo. I had a JLT CAI with a SCT tuner. The tuner does make a difference, depending on who is doing the tune. Personally if I where you I would look into the JLT CAI / tuner combo from AM w/ Bama tunes. You will not regret it one bit.

^^ This. JLT makes some of the best CAIs on the market, and our Bama Custom Tuning team is excellent at writing custom tunes and you're enrolled in our Free Tunes for Life program when you buy most of our tuners. Personally, I prefer the SCT X3 (same as the SF3, but it has custom tunes instead of pre-loaded strategy tunes) because it's user-friendly and a lot of dyno shops use them. Speaking of which, if you're planning on mods that will require a dyno tune down the road, check with the dyno shop you want to have do your tune and see what they prefer to work with, just to make sure.

The Shelby GT calibration code still needs alot of work. Just because they were able to sneak a few extra peak HP out of it, doesn't mean that's it. They still lack in torque, throttle response, and all around power throughout the curve. As well, our tuning is much "cleaner", because we can get rid of many engine controls that the EPA and insurance companies require (even ones that aren't emissions related) that we strip out for performance calibrations.
