Default CATs and FI..

are you guys with FI running the stock cats or running high flow ones?

I am upping the boost this summer (10 psi) and running the stock cats, thinking of upgrading to high flow ones but unsure of any issues that may arise.. (clogged??)

I'm running with no cats. I was going to get some high flow ones but I've read too many stories of them going bad. I'm just going to put my stock cats on when it's time for my first smog check and maybe take them off in between checks.

lol I seriously thought about doing the same.. just pulling the O/R pipe (with cut outs of course! lulz) and putting the stocker back on for the smog test...

Factory cats will support a lot of power so provided your tune is on the money they will not burn out, I wouldn't spend the money to replace them until they actually need to be at that point go with a good set of U.S.A. cats with a metallic substrate, that cheap Chinese crap will melt. You could also get a good set of premium long tube headers.

I'm running the stock cats, haven't ever heard a problem with them clogging, but have heard of some issues with hi-flow cats clogging.

I have the stock mid pipe but will soon just to catless for other reasons.

Hi flow cats are not as reliable.

If you are concerned, get an off road mid pipe and swap them when needed.

would you say that the stockers are better for boosted applications?

I will most likely go with the 2nd suggestion for racing season, and the stock one for the rest of the year.

I thought about getting some high flow cats, but if it's not worth it.. then no.

I can think of 3 separate threads on another forum where the hi-flo's have caused the engine to blow. I'm of the opinion that you either stick with the stock units (which have no reported failures that I could find) or go with o/r systems.

I have one of those threads bookmarked, pm me if you'd like a link.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Before you put the mid pipe on, weld on an O2 sensor bung and plug it. It will cost $5 and save you time for future wideband addition.
