Just changed the "dreaded" sparkplugs
if they are going to break off they will break off when the are turned that initial 1/4 turn. i work at a ford dealer the only luck ive had is to use a 3/8 impact to zip them out. have gone from breaking off 75% to breaking off 25%. i know the tsb says not to, but sometimes engineers are full-o-crap.
I'm just surpised that as more people find out about this that they don't replace the plugs with the one piece champions. Instead, most opt for the same Crap-o plugs...?
Changed my plugs to the Champions at 10K miles and haven't thought about it since (37K on the odo now)

Okay so now that I see another success story I think I am gonna have to do this myself as my car has only 21000 miles on it and I have heard that the sooner you do this the better. What plugs did you use to replace the old ones? Are there any performance plugs for our cars?

Autolite also makes a good plug.
Not one piece though but they hold alot better than the stock ones and with anti sieze put on them I have been told by MANY that you should be ok.
They make the HT1's for normal application and the HT0 for forced induction application.
You can also use the HT0 without forced induction you just gap them different I believe.
I know of two well known mustang shops/outlets that ONLY use the Autolites when they do work.
One of them is a sponsor here I believe. Not naming names. But the Autolites do come VERY recommended.
I used the Champions AND the Autolites. To tell you the truth I found no difference but I was having problems I thought were
sparkplug related but were NOT when all was set and done.
Congrats to the person that posted this thread.
Did not read it all but hope you got them all out without one breaking!
P.S. I know a couple of people that had real trouble with BRISK plugs when they used them with F.I.
I'd stay away from them. Of course I'm sure some people have used them without trouble but when two people I personally know that
do not know each other both had problems, and both had the problems disappear after ditching the Brisks.... I would not go with them.
Just my two cents.

The whole purpose IMO to change the plugs out is to get rid of the source of the problem (two piece plugs that get carbon welded and break in the head).
I like autolite and would have preferred them over Champions but Autolites do not fix the problem. IMO if you're going to stick autolites in there you may as well stick to OEM (motorcraft) and just pull them out every 10K to keep an eye on them.
P.S. I don't have any personal experience with Brisk or Autolite, only the Champion and OEM's

Otherwise yes... I'd stick with the Champions.
