Default Emissions debacle - NO idea...

Hey everybody,

I've been trying to get my 05 Mustang GT to pass emissions here in Texas for a year now. 4 of my sensors wouldn't reset so I've been unable to pass an OBD2 test. The car has been at Ford for a week now and they've only been able to get 2 of the 4 sensors to reset. I'm going in later today to speak with them in person but I believe the 02 catalyst and 02 heater have yet to reset. Does anyone have any ideas? I have done the drive cycles as well as Ford... we have no idea what to do.

Do you have a tuner? If so you may have alot of the emissions systems turned off. If your tuner turns off the rear 02s that can be the big reason you can't pass. Flash the car back to stock and that should reset it. I say all this assuming you haven't already tried this and that you have a tuner. Just my .02. I had to pass TX emissions this year and had to take off my tune to pass.

We've done this. Unfortunately the car won't make a drive cycle in stock tune because of the cams.

When you say won't make a drive cycle. What do you mean exactly? Does it throw CEL's, die, run really badly?

Have you tried getting a tune that keeps the emissions systems on? (Im sure you have but I have to ask). Some tuners like Bama, can turn the systems on so you can pass.

You should be able to by an emissions friendly tune from AM or Brenspeed.

It sounds like the rear O2 sensor are turned off... Those cannot be reset if they are turned off.

I had the same problem here is what I did (and I have cams):

Returned the car to stock tune, drove for about 300 miles (or complete drive cycle). Check engine light came on stating "Catalyst exceeding threshold" or something along those lines. I cleared the code and drove the car another 50 miles and the car passed inspection.

That's what's up. I remember this from that other emissons thread. Worked perfect for me. (I don't have cams just so you know)
