Learning a stick takes a little practice but after awhile it becomes second nature. I vote for the manual UNLESS you'll be driving in a lot of stop-and-go traffic. After awhile, that gets really mundane.
And I'm sure this will evoke a lot of flaming.... Here, let me start:

GT is no slouch either. I am assuming your a young guy and with that being said I would say go automatic. If youre not really used to driving to start out with then throwing in a manual will just make things a bit dangerous. I know a few people who when the first started driving they were driving sticks and ended up being in terrible wrecks pretty quickly because they just had too much going on

If you have never driven stick before, I would definitely get an auto for the GT. Whether its a GT or Shelby GT500, I dont believe these are the cars you should learn to drive a manual on. Find a family's car thats a bit older, maybe a civic or something, and learn to drive on that.
It can be done and I am sure there are many people that have learned stick on GT, but for me, I wouldnt want to learn how to drive stick on this car. Too much power...

Driving a manual is not that hard.
My first car was a manual and I think it made me more aware of my surroundings than if I had an auto.
If you aren't a stupid driver you will be ok in a manual, but you will have to be careful.
If you want a manual its worth it.
