As the title says another 5r55s of the newer mustangs is out of commission. These were said to of been built to handle a little extra but clearly from my experience and many others on here they arent the greatest transmissions. Heres my question;

Transmission wont shift from 2nd to 3rd. burnt up clutch bands i thought so i pulled the pan and clean fluids. the solenoids were stuck open so i replaced that thinking maybe it was just a shift solenoid, not minutes later same thing happened. what am i missing that it could be? also im hoping to rebuild this transmission with better internals. what is the best kit for the $ out there? any help would be appreciated.

Performance Automatic makes great units BUT the tune is important if it's not on the money you're going to be in the same boat and excess friction during shifting means boom.
