Default Another alternator question

About a month ago, I bought a remanufactured alternator from Autozone. Yesterday, on my way home from work I got the Check Charging System warning, and watched as the voltmeter showed the battery draining as each of the components turned off one by one. Luckily I made it to my home and pulled in the driveway (at which point everything on the interior was off).

So no more remanufactured electrical parts for me: http://imgur.com/a/z56RA (harness and alternator burn damage).

Do you guys recommend a particular brand of alternator? Has anyone had experience with the Duralast Gold alternator ( http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...48_55002_4450_ ) from Autozone?

The other alternator I've seen (by googling and saw that it was also in the other recent alternator thread) was this one: http://www.americanmuscle.com/130amp...or-0509gt.html

I'll most likely have to order the alternator harness online, as the local Ford dealerships don't have it in stock.

I'm up for other recommendations too.

Thanks!

That PA alternator is a good one.. And AM will take care of you if you have any issues with it.. Can't beat a lifetime warranty either for that price..

Roga Danar,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with your Alternator. I think you'll be in good shape with either of the alternators you listed here.

This 130 Amp Mustang Alternator is 100% Brand New, not re-manufactured like other companies sell and is tested at the time of assembly. It comes complete with internal voltage regulator and pulley. The 130 Amp alternator will increase the charging capacity at all RPM Ranges with no modifications required. This set up produces 80+ amps at idle (2000 alternator shaft RPM), and 160+ amps at maximum (6000 alternator shaft RPM).

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the responses! I was hoping to find something local so I could get it taken care of this weekend (as I missed the Saturday delivery deadline on the AM website). I can find alternators no problem...the alternator harness is the pain.

If I can't find any harnesses (which is looking that way after calling a bunch of places), then I'll order from AM to get it on Monday. Thanks!

I've had the PA alt. from American Muscle for over two years now without any problems. I've heard the part store ones will give you trouble.

Re-manufactured or new doesn't much matter the 6g alternator from Motorcraft is junk. Ford went to a Denzo in 2010 a much better design.

Installed the alternator harness and alternator Monday evening. Other than some dumbassery on my part during the install, everything seems to be running well.

Roga Danar,

Glad everything worked out for you! We do stand behind all of the parts we sell, so if you have any premature failures or issues, let us know. I don't anticipate any issue though, PA makes a very high quality alternator!
