Why do you think the GT500 runs 20W50 oil? Higher HP requires better lubrication.

Mobile 1 used to be a great oil but once it got popular they changed it and it doesn't fair very well in testing against the better synthetics.

Would you consider pennzoil a better synthetic? or just amsoil?

I think Amsoil http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/rd30.aspx , Valvoline VR1 http://www.valvoline.com/products/co...ng-motor-oil/8 and Royal Purple http://royalpurpleconsumer.com/produ...!hps-motor-oil are the best for our high power engines but Pennzoil is better then Mobile 1 in the testing results I have seen. Here is a magazine article with some oils tested you may find interesting. http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oil%20Tests.pdf

Really only need a high zinc level for a flat tappet cam.

I run a ZZ4 in my 74 corvette and use Mobile 1 10w30. In my GT I run Mobile 1 5w20.

Ask a group of guys what is the best oil and you will get 100 different answers.

No flat tappet refers to an OHV type of engine, like the old 5.0, where the lifters ride on the cam and move the pushrods and rocker arms to actuate the valves. Our cars are an SOHC type and the cam followers ride directly on the cams to activate the valves. The flat tappet style requires good lubrication to prevent excessive wear.

ohh okay I see! I mean the shop that explained it to me did work on older cars, but he said zinc was good for all motors. Now the only problem i have with that test you showed me is its a little dated, they were using syth blend oil but no one was using the new advanced fully synthetic oil. Same with penn oil no one used the ultra class fully synth oil. Do you have any newer tests?

Zink is good for all cars, it was removed because catalytic converters were mandated, it's jut not as much of a requirement in OHC motors. I don't have any other links but you can google auto oil test results and get lots of info.

I've got to ask what motors? I've never known anyone to seize a motor and I bet your friends had more to do with it than Royal purple.

I use pennzoil platinum 5w30 in my car, but I'm moving to 10w30 next time.
